Reference Platform

The Reference Platform is an environment for software vendors and the healthcare community to view demonstrations and trial aspects of the National e-health Transition's Authority (NEHTA) work program.

Initial NEHTA concepts are developed, trialed and tested within the Reference Platform environment. Modifications are continually being made to the Reference Platform to reflect improvements to the NEHTA initiatives and specifications.

The main purpose of the Reference Platform is to:

• Demonstrate the key concepts and assist the healthcare community in understanding the NEHTA initiatives. NEHTA can also receive direct feedback from the community on the initiatives. to assist in Health Community understanding and to foster feedback and adoption. Demonstrations incorporate the use of Healthcare Identifiers, Authentication, Terminology and Secure Connectivity for ePathology reporting and eDischarge Summaries. NEHTA regularly conducts demonstrations of the Reference Platform at workshops, seminars, industry events and directly with Vendors/Health Community.

• Trial and Test the NEHTA endorsed specifications with software vendors and the healthcare community. For example, the Reference Platform can create and send test ePathology and eDischarge Summaries to vendors. Through direct technical work with the healthcare community this assists NEHTA to gain valuable feedback which will be used in improving NEHTA's specifications.
