HealthBeyond Expo

HealthBeyond expo provides a preview of consumer healthcare in the future. New consumer tech expo presents fun and interactive e-health solutions.

Australia's first e-health consumer expo will be held in Melbourne on May 7 enabling health professionals from GPs to specialists, nurses, pharmacists and allied health workers to experience the revolution of technology in the management of chronic illness and the achievement of well being and good health.

The day one-day event at Telstra Dome will feature four health and wellness precincts covering home technology, gaming and interactive media, personal health records and virtual communities.

Interested consumers can come along and have a ‘hands on’ experience with the expo and demos and get up close and personal with experts in the field. Health professionals will experience a striking array of technology solutions that can support patients in their journey to a healthier life.  The technologies span interests from chronic disease to general health and fitness.

The event is being staged by the Health informatics Society of Australia (HISA), in association with the National E-Health Transition Authority (NEHTA).  Both organisations are passionately committed to the delivery of safe and efficient healthcare through better information systems.

HISA Chief Executive Brendan Lovelock maintains the day will reinforce the role of consumer tech as an important part of the process of health management. ”What technology can do for the management of illness and maintenance of wellness is incredible. The role of HealthBeyond is to profile what is available in the marketplace to both consumers and health professionals, encourage more uptake of the tools available and empower all of us to explore more effective ways of keeping well.”

Organisers say they are collecting personal experiences of health consumer tech and aspirations for e-health. Log on to www.healthbeyond.org.au and click on the “Shout Here” button to share your experiences and register for the day.
