General Practice Clinical Desktop Panel to be Established
NEHTA is seeking proposals from commercial suppliers to incorporate national eHealth specifications and standards into existing GP software products.
This Request for Proposal (RFP 2010/01) will establish a panel of General Practice Clinical Desktop software vendors and consortia to deliver integrated products to the Federal Government's first eHealth implementation sites, initially in Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland.
Vendors will be required to:
- Support the exchange of high priority clinical information e.g. discharge summaries, specialist letters, referrals, health summaries and medications management.
- Implement core technical foundations such as healthcare identifiers, secure messaging, CDA messaging formats and clinical terminologies.
- Help test and fine-tune initial specifications for the Personally Controlled Electronic Health Record (PCEHR).
- Progress the development of NEHTA specifications and national standards.
Additional activities incorporating other sectors are anticipated to be announced in the future.
