Positive response from SNOMED CT®AU Roadshow attendees

The Australian Clinical Terminology User Group (AuCTUG) SNOMED CT® AU Roadshow held from 30 August to 2 September 2011 has received positive feedback from attendees.

The purpose of the SNOMED CT AU Roadshow (held in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Perth) was to raise awareness of clinical terminology use within the Australian healthcare community.

Subject matter experts including Ms Karen Gibson, Mr Michael Lawley, Mr Michael Osborne, Mr David Rowlands, Prof Jon Patrick, Ms Donna Truran, Mr Graham Pegler, Ms Robyn Richards, Ms Margaret Prichard and Mr Dion McMurtrie attended to help guide discussions.

Participants discussed interests and challenges faced in their organisations during the workshops that focused on SNOMED CT AU basics and concepts, use of reference sets, Australian Medicines Terminology, Interrogation of SNOMED CT and User Interface.

Feedback showed that 87% of participants found the Roadshow to be very/quite useful with 83% indicating their expectations of the Roadshow had been met.

Many attendees reported that they were in a better position in understanding SNOMED CT AU and to implement its use in their organisation, and had gained much value from the Roadshow. Popular sessions were run again as part of the IHTSDO conference in Sydney in October.
