e-Diagnostic Imaging
The Diagnostic Imaging Industry is a high technology environment subject to rapidly changing technology. There are numerous potential system interfaces in the journey of a Diagnostic Imaging (DI) procedure; from the request, to the acquisition of images, the creation and subsequent distribution of reports and images, to the relevant healthcare providers involved in the patient’s treatment.
Diagnostic Imaging refers to a variety of services including diagnostic radiology, ultrasound, computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging and nuclear medicine imaging.
e-Diagnostic Imaging
e-Diagnostic Imaging aims to enable a nationally-endorsed, consistent and secure electronic exchange of diagnostic images across the healthcare sector.
Approach
NEHTA is working with the healthcare sector to understand current and future technologies, business processes and standards to develop agreed specifications or guidelines to align systems across the sector.
Benefits
e-Diagnostic Imaging facilitates the development of a national approach to radiology services, creating more effective, efficient and safer patient care. This national approach will also promote greater continuity of care and enable increased responsiveness across the diagnostic imaging sector.
