Clinical Unit

Practicing clinicians with diverse clinical backgrounds—led by Melbourne GP and former Australian Medical Association President, Dr Mukesh Haikerwal AO—are assigned to various areas of the NEHTA work programme, including:

• Clinical Safety Unit focussed on risk management and system safety

• Clinical Safety Working Group validates the evidence for the clinical safety case

• Clinical Governance Review Board advises and supports product development and implementation

NEHTA works with organisations such as the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care (ACSQHC) and the University of New South Wales Centre for Health Informatics to ensure the clinical safety and governance of the personally controlled electronic health record (PCEHR) and eHealth products and solutions.
